Ok, he really is pretty standard size for an SBT, but itty bitty to me. He is starting to settle in to being inside the house, and by settle I mean that he lying upside down on my bed right now, legs sprawled in the air, and snoring away! Exactly...up until last summer I'd only seen them in picture...

I think sometimes we forget that pit bulls are dogs too. Yes, they should be bombproof, and yes, genetics determine the better part of a dogs temperament. But, pit bulls, JUST LIKE ANY OTHER BREED, can learn behaviors too. (Clearly, since we dominate pretty much any dog sport we participate in!) Thi...

Well, to speak for Ellena, the gal this fella went to is certainly a good judge of character. Not your typical run of the mill adopter...they know the breed very, very, very well, and I trust that they would make "the tough call" if that ended up being necessary. In general I'm not a fan o...

That IS bizarre...poor guy...he looks like he's thinking...Geez mom, I already am the only dog in history to cut myself on frickin ice, and you tell everyone about that, AND you make me wear clothes!?!?!?!?!

Does your rescue have a board of directors? If so, I'd present this issue to the board...have them vote on what to do. If not, I'd contact the other people involved with the rescue and ask for their input, without making accusations. I'd also suggest having a frank, in person convo with the martyr. ...

To make me feel that they would get PTS because of me is wrong. It is the fault of the owner who surrendered them to the kill shelter, or the owner who let their dog stray and didn't bother to look for it. Hit the nail on the head there...and I think you need to express that to them. It is NOT your...

What about "I'd rather live in my car in a Walmart parking lot with my dog than get rid of him"... lol

(That's probably not good...lol)

What Would You Say?

Okay, all rescuer's opinions are wanted here. Say you have an applicant for a dog...said applicant is a college student, working part time. First time renter (of a small studio apartment) - has landlord approval for bully breeds. Knowledgeable about bully breeds, but hasn't owned a pit bull before. ...

she goes out every weekend, has an adopt me vest on, goes to doggy daycare as well, does events all over, is listed on a bunch of sites, including petfinder and husky rescue, and is crossposted everywhere.. That's just SO bizarre...it's easy enough to figure out why our bullies don't get adopted, b...

That IS bizarre...I thought bullies were the only puppies who routinely grew up in rescue. Very strange, really... I'm assuming she's listed everywhere? How often does she go out and about? (Perhaps with "adopt me" paraphenalia) Here's to hoping her forever family finds her soon!

I think BIN has a program (or has tried to implement one) in their area? Or is it Bully Buddies? One of you Canadians anyway. lol And I completely agree...unfortunately I know at least one of my local shelters would be so concerned about the legalities of it that they wouldn't even entertain the not...

If it helps at all, if he's still available when I'm ready for a dog, I'm pretty much set on our Benny Boy. :) :inlove:
