I'm gonna go cry. I just got confirmation from two sources that this is a rescuer who caused a lot of problems here in Sac many years ago. Most of what I know is hearsay, so I'll leave it at that and hope for the best for this new rescue.

Anyone ever heard of/dealt with Misunderstood Pit Bulls?

Maybe I'm just being paranoid, but this group is in my area and is soliciting dogs on craigslist. Just doesn't sound kosher.

The liquid injectable Ivermectin is available at any well-stocked feed store (or online, I'm sure). No Rx, but you will need to buy at least 1 syringe & needle to dispense it. You can make a suspension of the Ivermectin in OJ or just be mean and give it straight.

2 money saving ideas for topicals (Advantage & Frontline only): buy the largest dog size & measure it out per dog/cat. Frontline claims to do up to 3 months' worth of protection, but who knows. Still, I only do the dogs every other month and have not had a problem. Also, the prices on ebay a...

I use a prong on Geordie when biking, BUT read the setup description first, please, and then let me know if it's still a no-no. OK, I need to take pictures of this setup, but I'll try to describe it well enough. The dogs wear a harness on a traffic lead (18-20" long of 1" leather) that is ...

ilovelucy, I should explain that the "sigh" is not directed at you, but at the hysterics who are STILL spreading the idea that there is/was a proposed/passed breed ban in CA. I'm glad you're passionate about wanting to prevent such laws, but I wish whoever started that petition had been th...

*sigh*

SB861 passed over a year ago. It is not a ban. It was never a ban. A breed ban violates the California constitution, although thanks to SB861, BSL is no longer a constitutional violation. SB861 allows breed-specific mandatory s/n and/or breeder regulations for local governments.

Sac County mandatory s/n passes

Just got the email that it passed 4-1. Text: http://www.acr.saccounty.net/news/Animal-Ordinance/04-17-07-ATT-Animal-Overpopulation-Ordinance.pdf Fees: http://www.acr.saccounty.net/news/Animal-Ordinance/04-17-07-ATT-B-Fee-Schedule.pdf I applaud the spirit, and it actually looks very reasonable, but I...

Also consider adding a wading pool if you're dog is digging to get to a cool spot.

I can vouch for the poop method.

Well, it's in Rancho Cordova, so it should be within commute distance. :)) I don't think there's any problem w/ me posting my email, so you can contact me at adoptanapbt@hotmail.com for more info. I'd about given up on finding a housemate, but it'd be great to have someone who's pit savvy to let the...

ZiggysMom, if you're desperate for housing, keep me in mind. I've been trying to rent out 1 or 2 rooms in my house for months now with no luck. I wasn't thrilled at adding another dog to the household (2 permanent dogs, 1 foster & 1 permanent cat, 1 foster cat), but I've reached a point where I ...

Any experience w/ veterinary acupuncture?

My granny girl Banjo has spine/rear end mobility/pain issues, and the NSAID Previcox perked her up a little, but hasn't helped her mobility. I really want to avoid steroids if possible, partly for health side effects and partly because that was the death knell for my cats. I am interested in acupunc...
