I'm just curious... for your pup that had demodex. Was she treated with anything else, or do you think the raw diet alone cured the demodex. Also, at what age did she recover?? Switching to raw seems to be a common theme among people with tough-to-beat demodex, so I'm sortof keeping a running tally...

Rather than get into the raw vs. kibble debate, I'm just going to answer the original question, which was, I believe, why don't you feed raw? I did. I fed raw for over 2 years - Gage was raw fed from 8 weeks old until around 2 1/2. Why did I start my dogs on raw? Gage was allergic to ALL grains as a...

Re: rescues and their volunteers

How do the personal efforts of volunteers reflect on a rescue organization? It depends on the level of involvement of the volunteers. All of our volunteers reflect on us, really. In everything from the way they keep their dog to the way they dress. Our volunteers are out there representing us. We'r...

Spurby - the respect is mutual. I think BIN is doing a great job, and plays a very important role. Also, whenever we get an application from someone east of Alberta, we direct them to you. We also occasionally get BC folk who want an ON dog, and we direct them to you Hmm I guess those emails got lo...

JMO, I think that anything a volunteer does reflects on a rescue. So do I. However, if I "police" my volunteers to the point of telling them they can only get a dog from a local shelter or rescue group, not taking anything else into consideration, I won't have many volunteers! We DO set e...

To be explicitly clear (thought I was, but here's another try): Rumpley wants, ideally, to KEEP this dog. She's not getting him with the intention of adopting him out, she's getting him with the hope that he will be a good fit with her and her existing dog, Cedric, and that he'll have the right pers...

I wanted to clarify a few things. First off, this dog is not going to rescue. He's going to Rumpley, as a private project, and a dog she can hopefully KEEP. Rumpley has long been looking for a nice bully Amstaffy looking dog that she can get a PEN on and use as a competition dog. As a rescue person,...

Awwwww there's my Pretty Jane!!! I can't believe the little turd decided she doesn't like other dogs...at the shelter she acted as if they were all her bestest buddies ever. Little liar of a dog. lol She was faking, lol. Actually, it would be really easy, if you didn't actually let them get nose-to...

Pretty Jane, aka "Sweet Jane"

I just wanted to post an update on Jane, the sweet little pocket pit that we got from WA, via Underdogs (mydogsarethepits). I went and visited Jane at Sam's house the other day, and she really is a doll! Jane's definitely not a dogpark kinda gal, but her dog aggression is easily managed, especially ...

Awwwwwww! Rumpley, you did good with this one  Kudos to you, BaileyBones, and all our other fosters for being able to let them go - I couldn't (as shown by Sugar and Gage lol ). Thanks again for being MoonPie's super-duper foster mommy, and big thanks to you and mydogsarethepits for finding her...

What a freaking beautiful dog - still loving to be touched, when you KNOW that's got to hurt.

D - what's the prognosis on that leg? Will he regain full use of it? That's an ugly break

We've just recently gone through this exact situation with Dharma. She has a very small, very neat "spay scar", but no bumpy scarring underneath, and no vet records or owner history, so we're really not sure. As all of our dogs are speutered before adoption, we decided it wasn't too much t...
