HI! From NE WI

Postby mayhemkb » Thu Jan 08, 2009 11:35 am

Hi there everyone. I am a newbie here. I live in NE Wisconsin where beer, snow and the Packers consume most of our time. I am the owner of a 1yo MN Pit/Austrailan Cattle Dog mix named Otter. He is not my first dog. I also have a 5yo MN Belgian Sheepdog named Boon. Otter is the first PB or PB mix I have owned, however I have many hours under my belt doing basic obedience training with shelter dogs of all breeds, including PB's while I was in college. I also worked as a Vet assistant for a short time and handled dogs of all breeds and temperments. I have a BS in Psychology with emphasis on behavior and behavior modification, and well as a minor in biology emphasis on zoology.

I acquired Otter from a rescue in SE WI in June of 2008 and while we have struggled with separation anxiety issues he has been a joy to own and is a smart as whip. My other dog Boon is a goofy rescue boy who has adjusted to having Otter in the family and has helped provide a great example for Otter to learn from.

As for myself I am very involved in my local Ferret Shelter and also have 3 ferrets. I have worked with horses for about 20 years, and I enjoy hiking, hunting, Packer Football, and those with a good sense of humor.

I look forward to the collective experiance on this forum, and having peers in the dog wolrd who don't hold a bias towards me because of my dog's breed.

Actually my Husband did by default. We already have Boon so Otter was to come next. They are the buddies on Animals House.

Youaren't that far from me. Actually I'm in Green Bay-but you are right around the bend form where they found Otter. He was found stray in Brookfield.

Where'd you adopt him from? I'm familiar with the Brookfield Humane Society, Waukesha Humane Society, and Wisconsin HS. I volunteer on a pretty regular basis at the Waukesha HS.

Well, anyways, welcome to the forum! I'm sure you'll like it here!

HI guys! Am I missing anything in my intro-or did I just get kicked to the bottom of the deck here?

you're not missing anything, i thought it was a great intro. sometimes is just takes a little longer to grant full access...don't know why. i used my "waiting time" to read though all the stickies. there are quite a few that are fairly long, so those kept me busy.

it looks like they haven't given anyone from the 11th or 12th full access but i'm sure they be around shortly. I think I read somewhere that they volunteer to do this... great job by the way all you admins.
