hi thx for the welcome, my friend has a staffy and asked me if i wanted a staffy pup, ive known his dog for years he has a great temprament and character, so i jumped at the chance . (the pups were not his ). so my friend took me to see a guy who had the dog . there were two dogs around 4 mths old one brindle and one white , the guy said the white one was stealing the other dogs food so he wanted rid of it .... so here i am now 4mths later, hes a great dog not aggresive at all ,but very clingy ,wants to be next to me all the time.. couldnt imagine being with out him now..(apbt r illegal in uk) what am i goin to do??????

Welcome to the forum. According the Wiki...

"Under the 1991 Act (and as amended in 1997) it is illegal to own any Specially Controlled Dogs without specific exemption from a court. The dogs have to be muzzled and kept on a leash in public, they must be registered and insured, neutered, tattooed and receive microchip implants. The Act also bans the breeding, sale and exchange of these dogs, even if they are on the Index of Exempted Dogs.

Four types in particular were identified by the Act:

* Pit Bull Terrier (a description which has led to some confusion, as the "Pit bull" is not a breed in and of itself but encompasses a range of breeds)
* Japanese Tosa
* Dogo Argentino
* Fila Brasileiro

The Act also cover cross breeds of the above four types of dog. Dangerous dogs are classified by 'type', not by breed label. This means that whether a dog is prohibited under the Act will depend on a judgement about its physical characteristics, and whether they match the description of a prohibited 'type'. This assessment of the physical characteristics is made by a court."

Hope that info is correct and answers some questions. I would definitely look into it more. Such a shame to ban such beautiful and loyal companions.

You'll have to give a little more on your introduction. A sample can be found here...

I would not panic, but it looks like you might be in for he legal GAMES if you have any neighbors who complain and bring the dog to the authorities attention... good luck...
