Welcome to the board!! I would definitely consider crate training your dog. We need more info on him, though. How old is he? Have there been any changes in your life?

I'm with the crate training crew...Mika was a destructive little pup, but the crate training really helped a ton. Now she has free reign of the house and is excellent...and as odd as it may sound, leaving the tv or a radio on for her when she's left home alone made a difference. I think it made her less lonely, but whatever it does, it worked. :) And welcome to PBF! :hi

Before tossing him in the crate for the day (not a bad idea at all for dogs who really need it), I'd have to ask how much exercise he gets on a regular basis. My dogs murdered two couches and a chair before we learned our lesson: they MUST be exercised EVERY DAY, or else they get bored and when they get bored, they kill furniture. I know my dogs would be much happier napping on the couch after burning all of their energy after a good workout then being crated full of energy.
