I'm in Ontario too. You realize that despite what your vet had registered him as, there's still danger o him being seized right? I don't know that I would ever the risk of having my dog seized. Where in Ontario are you?

Also, i'm not trying to be difficult or confrontational. I have an 11 year old pitbull of my own and 6 month old foster that is going to be flying to NS ONLY because I am unable to keep him legally here, despite the fact that he's registered at the clinic where I work as an American Bulldog. lol

We live in Ottawa and I don't know about the rest of the province but they're not as strict as they were when the ban was first imposed.
I was under the impression that the dog would have to attack a person before being put down/receive fines. I don't think someone could see me walking my dog and then call the police on me. Please enlighten me if this is not correct!

And Hi Kristina!!!!

It's not correct. They could absolutely see you and report you and your dog, on a walk or even from looking in the windows of your home. Any dog that substantially similar is at risk - and sometimes papers registering them as something else don't help. That's why the law is so stupid, innocent dogs are euthanized, sent to research facilities or if they are really lucky saved and sent out of province (like what I do) just because they look a certain way.
They don't have to bite, act aggressive or do anything wrong.
Sucks.

It sucks but it's the hard truth. If I thought for a minute that I could keep my foster pup safe here with me, he would not be flying to nova scotia that's for sure. He's a keeper that I can't legally keep.

They could confiscate your dog and kill him. Pretty risky.
