nickfeden wrote:The only other dog I'd ever owned was a miniature poodle, so I was not quite prepared for the chewing capacity of a Pit. He has chewed through our drywall, wood fireplace, banisters, and door frames. We are constantly on the search for better chew toys for him and seem to have found certain Kong brand bones that really satisfy his needs.

Kongs are great; did you know they are color coded? Black being the toughest rubber, red below that, then I think purple is for seniors and blue is for puppies. Nylabones typically hold up well to PB type dogs...tenacious chewers. Also we buy "Antlerz" from Best Bully Sticks and our dogs really like them. Chewing can be the dog growing/teething, but it can also indicate boredom. Is Bones exercised regularly? If so (or even if not) there are these puzzles that you can buy-called work to eat toys-and they'll exercise him mentally. This might help deter some of the chewing...also he may not know what is appropriate chew vs a non appropriate chew "toy". For him, he's just going to do what's rewarding. If you catch him, stop him and give him something you want him to chew, and try not to make a big deal about the non appropriate item. There is a saying-reward behavior you like, ignore behavior you don't like.

:welcome: and thank you so much for bringing Bones into your home/life :))

Oh, and to load pictures you need to use a site like photobucket to upload your photos. Once their uploaded there, you'll select one of the links (I believe it's "direct link") and place it between (by using the Img button)
