Im 25, from london, UK. I've had dogs (mainly rotties and stafs) for the past 8 years. My beloved Rottweiler was put to sleep in May 2011 and i got myself a new pitbull a week ago. Its been hard adjusting to life with our new family member but he's a wonderfully intelligent and very loving pup who im incredibly happy with; it was not easy getting another dog because i felt i was somehow being disloyal to maximas (my 5 year old rottie who was put down) but the void of a four legged companion in my life was causing me to feel quite depressed and i knew it was only a matter of time before i got another.
I've had a little experience with pitbulls in the past but im here to gain some more knowledge and information from others who are more experienced with this amazing but sadly misunderstood breed.
Right now we are working on toilet training which is proving quite tough, hes picked up the basic commands pretty quickly eg. sit, stay, come etc. He's also barking on command...kinda
. He loves 'fetch', has lovely manners with guests that come to our home, waits patiently with his tail wagging until someone calls him over or pats him. i really do love him so much and want him to be a good example of the pitbull terrier in terms of socialising and good behaviour. Anyway, nice meeting u all and thanks for pushing me out of my shell, felt quite liberating
