Hi Everyone,

My name is Adam and I just adopted an 8 month old pit bull mix. I am actually going to pick him up from the shelter today. I am filled with excitement and fear at the same time. I am very excited, but I also understand I need to make sure he knows that I am the alpha dog. This is the first dog I have adopted. I have spent the past week learning proper obedience and feeding. I want to make sure I provide him a good home and a lot of love. He is very calm for a puppy and I cannot wait to grow with him. I want to make sure he is sociable. If anyone has any advice to make sure he is well trained and obedient, I would greatly appreciate it.

Here's a few of links that may be of interest to you. You don't have to be the "alpha dog" because, well, you're not a dog. Think of your new pup as your partner, not you're subordinate.
