New Pitbull owner

Hey guys!

Just received a 3 months all pitbull, she's a healthy little dog (for now) full of energy. I joined the forum because I want to learn as much as possible about the breed and raise the dog properly.

oppsss yeah sorry about that and grammar, that's what happens when you type and watch tv at the same time.

Well im from Canada and this is pretty much the first dog i have, well i didn't really buy it as this was a gift for my brother but i know he ill be the one researching info about this breed.

Pitbulls are banned in certain boroughs of Montreal-- make sure you do your research!

Never heard about the ban! I took her to the vet today and he didn't mention anything so i guess im good to go!

You may want to educate yourself. There have been several high profiles cases from Montreal this year of dogs who were seized from their owners and euthanized due to minor infractions.

In one, a Boston terrier mix was labelled a pitbull and seized after barking at a police officer.

Also, your vet isn't under any obligation to report you and may very well have no idea about the ban.

I live in Ontario where there's an all out ban and we have several illegal dogs that come see us. Most of my doctors have no idea what the legislation here actually entails or what it requires of them.
