Can you explain why you choose to own a breed that is banned where you live, and ultimately put its life I'm danger? Seems selfish to me and not in the best interest of your pet.

Because even though its banned there are still going to be pitbull's around and If I no I could give this dog a life that it deserves and home to live in, instead of some dirty back street dog owner using it for fighting or a batedog. To me that doesn't seem selfish at all :/ common sence reall.

Like he said ^

I can give him a home and with acres and acres of land I don't have to worry about him being taken from me.
He has been and is being socialised with other dogs (Staffordshire terriers, beagles, American bulldogs, etc)
many people have met him and he is very loving. it's either me owning him and giving him the life he deserves of some backstreet gypsy wanting him for fighting etc. I can give him everything he needs and I love him to bits, I think that's all that matters to be honest.

so what do you think is selfish? me keeping him and him living his life like any other dog or someone else owning him which could result in him being a fighting dog or just being put down?

anyway thanks for the welcomes

Keep them safe. I wouldn't be advertising publicly that you own banned dogs but that's just me.

Keep your head down and make sure your dogs are in control, supervised and well mannered at all times. Whether you like it or not, you need to be an exceptional dog owner if you choose to own a dog that is at risk thanks to legislation.

Thanks for a more understanding post,

a LOT of people own pitbulls in the UK, if they are well behaved then its just a case of getting a small tattoo and having to wear a muzzle in public.

I haven't disclosed my location and don't plan to, but he is in good hands. and seriously well mannered already

It's a shame about the stereotype they have in the UK.

I no how you feel, it's the same for me I have a massive farm with lots of land, my dog does everything it wants to within reason. However he his no harm to the public what do ever if anything my staffy is more aggressive but still no harm to the public just protective towards dogs that it doesn't know.
