Our dog, Pumpkin

Our dog, Pumpkin

Our dog Pumpkin is about 4 or 5 years old and is very shy. I think she is a pit bull, but she could be mixed with some type of hound. We got her from a dog rescue and, while very loving for our family, she is very shy. I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to help Pumpkin build her confidence. The guy at the pet store suggested we carry treats around with us and have lots of different people give her treats.

We are thinking AmStaff & Plott Hound - she loves tracking different scents around our yard. She might just be a plain old pit bull; we don't know. She is about 40 lbs.

IMO the best thing for building a dog's confidence is a lot of positive socialization and obedience training, An obedience class would be helpful too!

Welcome to you and pumpkin!
