Hi, Are Pit mixes allowed on this board?

Hello, I have been looking for a good board to learn about and discuss Pit Bull related issues. Our puppy, Toby, is a Pit/Rot mix (hence my user name).

He's almost 7 months old and is a great dog. He's a lot bigger than we thought he would be, he weighed 70lbs at 6mos. We thought he would only be about 70 or so full grown.

He already graduated puppy class and we are waiting for advance class to start. He's doing really well so far. He also goes to doggie day care once a week to help keep him socialized.

I'm looking forward to talking to others on this board about various training options (weight pulling, agility etc) and other issues. It seems that many of the trainers I've talked to in my area really know a lot about Pit bulls. One even told me there was no reason not to take him to dog parks even when he's an adult. Ummmm, I don't think so.

Anyway, I just wanted to introduce myself and Toby. Here is a recent picture...

Hey! This is a perfect place for you. I think my dog is either a pitt mix or "he hasn't grown into his ears yet" lol

Nevertheless you'll love it...welcome.

Thanks for the warm reception everybody!

Kathy - We have several "doggie day cares" in my area. The one I go to is run by a lady who does boarding and agility training as well. She has a few acres of land that is perfectly set up for the dogs to run and play all day. She puts them in crates for naps and meals.

I wanted to get him socialized as early as possible. When we first got him at 12 weeks, he growled and barked at all dogs. He got his haunches up when my sister brought over her dog. But since day care (and puppy class), he just wants to play with every dog he sees.

Wow thats wonderful that he likes playing with dogs now! Sounds like you found a wonderful daycare. All the daycares I know of here in CT don't have such a large area for the dogs to play.
