Hello all, ive been scrounging the net and happened along this site, i liked so i decided to join. I have a Blue/silver merle and joined the site for more info. Hopefully i wont be shunned bc i have a somewhat diluted dog. He is 5 months old now and i never new what color he was until i bought a book recently and found out why he his color is merle and his right eye has a greenish brown swirl in it. One of my questions is how do two apparently full blooded pits one white/black marks and one brindle put out a full litter with one merle?

Heres some pics of him

He is cute! Welcome to the forum.

Well to answer your question my guess would be either that that his sire was not the same as the rest of the litter or a different dam whelped your pup.
I say that because...
Merle is a dominant trait so it is expressed if the dog carries the gene. Thus, one parent had to have been Merle for the pup to be.

Merle is not a color carried in the APBT , thus he is not a purebred .
this link will have info you may find useful while researching merle:
www.apbtconformation.com

This is not a site that requires the dog be a purebred or even that you own a pit bull only that you love and are interested in bully breeds :)

Post more picts of the little doll and enjoy the forum

Hello and welcome. Your puppy is very good looking. I wouldn't worry about him one bit. I am sure he is perfect just the way he is!

Regarding your pup's color, it is possible that as Patch o' Pits suggested, there were multiple sires to his litter. If you weren't carefully scrutinizing his parents colors, it's also possible that one of them may be merle (it can be a bit harder to see on a brindle dog, and if his dam had heavy white spotting, a merle patch could have been covered up by a white spot) and you just didn't realize it. In either case, it won't keep him from being a great pet :)
