Indesctructible Crate!! Please!!

Postby brit.sm » Wed Jun 03, 2009 4:47 pm

Does anyone know where I can find an INDESTRUCTIBLE crate?? I need one that is impossible to escape from. We have a crate that he just tore apart... ripped the metal bars out and everything. It was a 150 dollars freakin crate from petco :po:
I looked at a bunch of web sites but I can't find one that looks real durable.

Thanks.

When I had a dog that suffered from Separation Anxiety, I was tempted on buying one of these:
http://leerburg.com/crate.htm

It's an Aluminum Dog Crate. $500 but your dog isn't going to get out

This was what i was worried about. Is the dog breaking out because he just doesn't like the crate, and will stop once he figures out that he can't? Or will the dog kill himself trying to break out of it?

I found someone that would let me barrow one for a few weeks for $100 ($50 upon return on the crate) to see if that was the case. Ended up having to put the poor guy down after he tried to kill himself one day while I left for an hour.

How do you treat seperation anxiety without having to hire a behaviorialist?

4 behaviorist and 1 trainer worked on him. It's a LLLOOOONNNNGGGG story which in the end, the behaviorist I was working with at the time and I agreed that putting him to sleep was the best plan. He wasn't just SA but HA as well.

Kane has the first crate listed. It's wonderful. Stopped him from breaking out of crates!

the only draw back with pet edge is that they are often out of things

oh just looked even the bigger one is still cheaper! the down fall with pet edge is that they sell to retailers but at the same price you see (unless you buy 10,000.00 a year from them

Hiya Brit.sm-

You can check your local "Craigslist" under services and look for "metal or welding fabricator" and show him one of them aluminum crate jobs and see if he can make one for cheaper.

Thats what I did.

But learn from my mistake, make the bars a little closer or in a way he can't squeeze his muzzle thorugh.

Good Luck,
:peace:

The crate that Kane has is the medium - which is like a "large" vari-kennel, maybe a bit bigger. The large is actually HUGE. After shipping, my total came to around $335. WELL worth the price. It's worked very well with a couple different dogs - and Kane loves it.
