Does this harness fit?

Postby MissKitty » Wed Nov 17, 2010 6:25 pm

I am borrowing a leather harness for Apollo's Schutzhund, I may end up buying one. What do you think of the fit?
The strap under his chest is as tight as it goes. The shoulder straps are as tight as they go and the one around his belly can go tighter or looser.

This little rat managed to take over almost every picture lol

And Apollo's favorite look-In the Nude. Please ignore the deceased stuffies....

Looks to me to be a tad big in the chest. Can you tighten the front up at all?

I'd go with something that the chest plate strap is secure on. Elite k9?

Here's Xanny in a similar harness. You can see I let it sit a bit lower, so it rode on her breastbone, rather than her throat. Doubt I did it perfectly.

I saw the same thing, I am going to ask the lady I borrowed it from if I could punch an extra hole in the harness because that is as tight as it goes.

Could you explain what you mean by the chest plate strap being secure on?

You can see I let it sit a bit lower, so it rode on her breastbone, rather than her throat.

Yeah, I have had trouble with all the harnesses I have tried riding up his throat and choking him. This harness I think (?) needs to be tightened from the strap under his chest to bring it down to his breastbone.

Is Xanny doing Ring? She is a beautiful dog!

Sorry, this is what I meant. I would like to see the chest strap tightened securely and pulling the breast plate down from the neck to relieve correction and pressure on the windpipe.

I think Xanny's still beautiful, but she just turned 12. She had to retire from almost all but the most cautious bitework because she got a mystery illness at age 5. It was neurological, and nearly killed her. It left her w/a slight loss of vision in the lower quadrants of her eyes, some difficulty w/knowing where her body is in space (proprioception) and a slight loss of balance. She never lost her lack of concern for her own physical well being, and her speed in driving into the decoy. I was afraid she would badly injure herself. So yes, we did some Ring, but never went very far.
