Getting our open intake shelter to evaluate Pit Bulls same

A group of concerned Minnesota residents and rescuers are trying to get our local animal control shelter to evaluate pit bulls and pit bull type dogs the same as other breeds of dogs. Any suggestions to help us are appreciated.

I would try to get a hold of shelters that do evaluate them the same way and get some info on how they do evaluations, how they do adoptions, success rates, etc. Hopefully your shelter can realize it is not a huge scary thing to hold pit bulls to the same standards as other breeds when they see that it is successful at other shelters.
The 3 shelters I am familiar with in Philly (ACCT, PSPCA, PAWS) evaluate all dogs with the same tests and have the same adoption process (not 100% sure for PAWS but I think so). Maybe someone closer to you can comment on more local places?
