Size Question

Postby u-turn » Tue Sep 02, 2008 3:17 pm

I was told by a vet today(not my vet) that U-turn is under weight.

The guy got me thinking that maybe he is. he has slimmed down a little since we have began to walk more.

i have been feeding him about a 3 cups a day of totw and i think by their standards thats more than i should be giving him.

heres the best shot i could get with my crappy camera and a dog that just got out the creek about 30 mins before

How old is he? They do go through growth spurts where they seem to need lots of food and they sprout up and thin out...

He looks good to me!

10 months is a lanky gangly time for most pups. I'm guessing he will eventually grow into himself without any problem. He looks fine to me from that photo.

x2 If you look at the standards most vets say, they don't want you to be able to see rib. You shouldn't be able to count each and every rib, probably, but you definitely should see them. I think an adult could go a little lower in weight and still be fine, but I wouldn't do that with a growing dog.

He looks terrific just the way he is - low in weight is better than high in weight.

Lean is so much more healthy than heavy.
