Why so long between eating and eliminating??

Postby DoggyDaddy » Sun Oct 12, 2008 10:01 am

We have two pups, both 10 weeks old. We feed at 6PM. The female goes at 2AM and the male at 4. This is causing us loss of sleep. Howe can they hold it so long??

Well think of yourself, and how often YOU go.
You don't eat a burger and poop it out 20 min. later! lol

What we do with puppies, we feed at 6am and 6pm.
Then we let them out around 10-11pm and let them wander around a bit before coming back in.

Typically, puppies DO poop right after eating, but it's the meal prior that is coming out.

Yup, like she said....offer a potty break right at bedtime (yours). Hopefully then they'll be good until the morning.

Wow, yeah usually pups will go anytime from immediately to about 10 minutes after they eat -- the pressure in the stomach seems to get things moving or something!

Are they permitted some freedom for a while after they eat or are they kept in or put right in a crate?
