My puppys tail is looking rather ragid any suggestions?

Postby UH60Wife » Sun Oct 19, 2008 7:28 am

My baby Butters is 11weeks and today I noticed an area on his tail is missing hair. I haven't seen him chewing on it. Which is what first occurred to me when I saw it. Anyone have any suggestions as to what could cause this? Here is some pictures but apparently I am horrible with a camera cause I just couldn't get a picture that really shows it.

Dogs have a gland right there. I wonder if it is maybe infected, causing him to bite at it? This has happened to my allergy dog, Sidney, before. We were given antibiotics by the vet and eventually it cleared up and the hair grew back.

I agree with Allie. It might be an infected gland - I would get your dog to the vet this week to make sure it doesnt absess or anything like that. Better to catch it early than let it fester.
