I bought a bottle of Ivermectin for around $30 from jefferspet.com. You will probably not even need the whole bottle. See if your vet will give you the dosage and let you buy the Ivermectin on your own. I would not recommend dosing on your own without talking to your vet, because ivermectin can be toxic too (if overdosed), but your vet should honor your choice to forgo the dips and go with oral treatment. It will take longer to be completely rid of the mites, but you should notice improvement within a few weeks.

Lila was about 47 # when we started the ivermectin and her doseage was 1.2 ml. They told me if showed any signs of depression loss of appetite or anything out of the ordinary to let them know ASAP as the dose would neem to be adjusted. Before her recent spay another skin scraping was done and they saw 10 mites on the slides. Which was much better than the previous scraping. So they increased the dose to 1.35 ml. I would ask your vet to be sure though.
