Back legs are longer???

Postby SadiesHuman » Sat Nov 01, 2008 8:30 am

Anyone else's dog have two different length legs? Dobbyn is quite awkward as it is with his huge paws, but we have noticed that his legs are also two different lengths. His front legs are about 13.5inches and his back legs are about 17.0inches. Thats a 3.5 difference!

Am I going to have to get him special shoes to balance him out? His body goes down at a slant and then he has a long neck and big head. He's really weird when you look at his body structure.

Oh and when he poops! He almost falls over because he has to compensate his backend for the 3.5inches!

Anyone else's dog like this? Or do I only find the "special" ones.

And a picture to show (or at least try, he doesn't stand still for every long) what I'm talking about.

He was trying to sit but you can still see the difference

And just cause he's cute

He's a cutie. He looks like a shepherd mix though, which could explain the back leg structure.

Haha - yeah I "think" he's a shepherd/pit mix.. but I'm not 100% sure. I'll see what he grows up to be. It was just an odd realization when we really looked at his legs a few days after adopting him. lol Do shepherd normally have different length in legs?

He's my special boy. Thats for sure.

Aren't all pit bulls front legs a little shorter than the back? Isn't that part of the breed standard or am I mistaken?

I'm not entirely sure... thats why I wanted to ask. My other pit's legs are normal looking and his back is generally level. Dobbyn's back end is much higher than the front.
