She stopped growing..... :(

Postby Cwgrljw » Sun Nov 23, 2008 2:11 am

 It seems Lucy has stopped growing. She hasn't gain a pound in 3-4 weeks. Still 33.5 lbs at 6 months. She eats well, plays hard, sleeps lots!

Has she hit a plateau ?

These were taken yesterday with mobile phone. She invented her own swing pole! Took my granddaughter for the ride of her life! LOL

At 6 months, they're pretty much through their large growth spurt. She will continue to grow, just not as fast. If you want to get an idea of what she will weigh, take her weight at 4 months and multiply it by 2. That will give you a ballpark figure.

I don't know about that! When I got Riddle, she was four months old and weighed 20lbs... and she was quite fat when I got her, so she should have weighed less. According to your math, she should have weighed about 40lbs... but now at almost three years she's 65lbs! And no... she is no longer fat. :P

It's a general rule of thumb, of course there are exceptions. It was right on the money for Duke and Shelby.

most dogs have an end to a growth spirt at 6-8 months and again at 12-18 months depending on breed. this seems normal to me to have a month or so lag around 6 months with a pit bull.

after they are done growing (which inst necessarily that much weight more than your girl) they will put on muscle which will add a few final mature pounds.
