Supplements????

Postby Cwgrljw » Wed Jan 14, 2009 10:02 pm

I was wondering how many folks here give supplements. If so, which do you prefer, why, and what were the results?

Thanks....

Forgot to add...since that thread I changed things a bit

Osteo-Biflex triple strength 1 pill twice a day (luxating patella)

Everything else is pretty much for allergies. Although coconut oil has many uses.

Coconut oil 1 1/2 tbsp daily
Salmon oil
vitamin e
yogurt as probiotic

I used to give salmon oil... it helped a lot until I figured out my dogs allergy issues. I've recently gotten lazy and quit giving it.

Most supplements are not worth your money provided you're spending the money on a quality kibble.

All my dogs get fish oil once daily. It does wonders for their skin/coats.

My oldest, an 11 year old lab, gets Dasuquin daily for her arthritis and some other immune boosting supplements since she was diagnosed with cancer a few months ago.

I give fish oil twice a day - will back off on daily E to every other day. Also try to do ACV at dinner and kelp powder a few times a week or more - might start that daily again. Also glucosamine daily for Ruby.

Is there a reason most of you don't use vitamin e daily?

I thought the E's standardly came in 400 IU (?) - I have just seen that a lot of people seem not to give it every day (like I've been doing) so that is why I planned to back off but I have not read any authoritative source on it yet....
