Dental products for allergy prone dog?

Postby bamawrly » Wed Feb 18, 2009 12:20 pm

Layla had her dental cleaning Monday and the vet sent my hubby home with C.E.T. AquaDent water additive which has Xylitol. I work in the dental field myself and know that Xylitol isn't that good for humans and know it is toxic to dogs. I am amazed that they even carry it.
We brush her teeth but have never used something to prevent plaque buildup. I see doing a search that there are tons of products on the market but was looking for recommendations. Also she has allergy issues but not exactly sure to what (never tested). My guess is wheat/grain and beef products. She is on Fromms fish and veggie food.

Give the Pet Kiss a try. Its a water additive that helps prevent and break down plaque and tartar.

I was looking at a MaxiGuard Gel which uses zinc ascorbate/taurine. http://www.addisonlabs.com/OralCleansingGel.htm

Or a 1% chlorhexidine solution. http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/p ... pcatid=507
