good healing thoughts sent Tux's way! At least he is being a good boy and letting you compress it. The lump in his neck is probably a swollen lymph node due to infection.

Good boy, Tux!

I am so lucky that when Booker got a foxtail, my friend was with him and brought him in right away and they were able to remove it with forceps from up his nose. Saved me many hundreds of dollars, too! lol

Maybe ask the vet about using an Epsom salt solution to help draw out that infection? Warm compresses are a good idea. Hopefully once some of the pressure is off it will be less painful for him and he will allow you or the vet to clean it out better.

I hope the lump on his neck is just nothing. Maybe it is related to the infection, like how our lymph nodes get swollen and painful when we are sick? I don't know.

I hope he's all better in short order!!

Aww, poor Tux! Lila had very similar symptoms once when she was younger, swelling, and then a day or so later swollen glands in her throat. The vet said it was a spider bit with a localized allergic reaction. If I remember correctly she was treated with anti-histamines and anti-inflammatories but no antibiotics and it cleared up in about a week. Get better soon, Tux!

Thanks again for asking about my boy. The vet said he is looking good but did not give me a sure cause for the infection. He wants to put the dog on another round of antibiotic when I am done with what I have left (7days). He said that what I feel on his throat might be an inflamed lymph node, as a result of the infection. He wants to wait and see if the swelling go down with the antibiotic before he does anything else. There is no more liquid being built so far, but I feel an odd to the touch tissue under the skin. The vet thinks it is normal since it was so inflamed. His face definitely looks better.

Here is what he looks like today:
