Tips for administering Invermectin

Postby Outlaw Josey » Sun Jun 14, 2009 10:56 am

We are 1st time dog owners and hopefully only have two more weeks to give Invermectin to Josey for a small spot of Demodex.
It must really taste bad - since after the 1st week it was really becoming a chore to get her mouth open to squirt it in.
My new method is to put it in a small bowl with some chicken broth and rice. So far that seems to be working.
Any other tips if she figures this one out?

yes, it tastes absolutely horrible. Try mixing it with canned food, squirting it on bread, and if it gets really bad, you can inject it into pieces of meat.

Daphne had it when we adopted her....I found that buying those empty gel capsules at the health food store works great....just fill them up with the liquid and hide it in some meat and she ate them all just fine.
