Update on Sasha

Postby nena103102 » Wed Jun 24, 2009 7:07 pm

Well we took her in today to talk to the vet and have her stitches removed. He said so far everything is good and we'll just have to keep an eye on the smaller ones, if they start to get any bigger, look irritated, ect, he'll want them removed. Then we talked about the big tumor that I had initally took her in for. It started out small, got bigger, got nasty looking, but now it's shrunk and looks 1000 times better than it did when I took her in just 2 weeks ago, so I figured it'd be ok. Nope, he said even though it's getting smaller it's not healing like he'd like to see so he'd prefer to have it removed. SO I got a print out of the cost so that we can go ahead and get things in order and make sure we have the money right now for it (it's going to cost about 700$) so we're going to have to postpone a few other things right now. I'm thinking about asking my other vet for a 2nd opinion to see what he thinks about it before we actually proceed with anything. I don't want to have to put her through a surgery she doesn't absolutely need.

Oh man, thats rough. Do you know what kind of tumor it is (I'm assuming you did biopsy since she has stitches)?? Can you link up to any old threads so I can catch up?

When I looked it up I found something that looked exactly like what she has and it's called a histiocytoma, I think the vet called it something else, I can't remember right now.
