Hi, thanks everyone. It was a ruptured disk  Finnigan is now out of surgery, but is being kept overnight. Hopefully I can pick him up tomorrow, it depends on how he's doing.

The surgeon wasn't able to get all the bone out, but at least part of it, so fingers crossed. He will need 6-8 weeks of rest to recover, poor boy. I wonder how the heck this happened? Mayb e an old injury that got progressively worse? I don't know his whole past. Maybe it was the jackrabbit incident? Either way I feel awful, but hopefully the surgery will speed his recovery by releiving pressure.

Anyway, he's going to be spoiled rotten for the next n6-8 weeks. Poor guy!

www.dodgerslist.com please be sure to visit there, it was very helpful when we had Copper with his bad disc.
They want other dogs, too, besides Dachshunds, to do the cheek swab/DNA database.

Thanks everyone! Finnigan is home from the hospital, but is relegated to crate only rest for the next 4-6 weeks. We get him out for bathroom, but at this point this brain and bladder aren't in sync, so usually we have to help express his bladder.

He will have to learn how to walk again, I feel hopefull. We lay him on both sides and works his limbs, and massage his muscles several times a day.

Its been stressfull, very little time for PBF, but my dogs come first!

On another note, Louis is doing great, and still sweet and mellow as ever.

Cheers
