How to make a pits head bigger?

Postby April » Wed Oct 21, 2009 3:13 pm

Other than genetics is there a way to maybe increase the size of the head of a pit?
I was talking to a women yesterday at night and her pit had a huge head, and she said she
gave her those bones they sell in the pet shop to widen it.
So any information would be cool, I just like pits with wide and big heads.

If you have no idea what I'm talking about this is how I want my pits head to be.

I'm guessing its genetic? My pups mother didn't have a large head but her father did.

Wow,really?

The picture you referenced is an American Bully, not a "pit".And no,there is nothing you can do to increase the dogs head size.

IALMO......April,,,no offese to you,,,,good question that I haven't seen asked before.....I just visioned another PB myth getting started,,,,,you know,,,, feed 'em XYZ bones,,,and their heads grow huge! Goes right along with
"Their brains never stop growing,,,thats why they turn on you down the road"

What some folks (like that lady who fed you the info) can dream up never ceases to amaze me....

The answer to your question is no.

If you wanted a dog with a large head maybe you should have looked into Dogue de Bourdeaux, they are supposed to have a huge noggin. APBT are not. You can't increase your dog's head size, how ridiculous does that sound really? Will your head get bigger if you chew steak bones?

Boss has a huge head. I have been kissing him between the eyes and calling him a "big head batard" his entire life.
I suggest you start a regime of a massive amount of forehead kissing and gentle, yet constant name calling.
It worked for me.

Please be kinder you guys.

As you thought, head size is genetic. However, you can get larger cheek muscles. When Xanny was in good shape and worked in bitework a lot, she had some big fat cheeks.

If you want a dog with a "bigger head" than you should get a American Bully. If you do not mind me asking, Why do you want a dog with a bigger head?

Mya, my American Bully has a big head and it does make her very cute. That is not why I got her though. But, because of her big head and smooshed muzzle, she has a harder time breathing in hot weather. She gets tired easier than our dachshunds(who have longer muzzles).

And no, feeding them a certain type of bones or anything like that will not make their heads bigger. Head size is genetic. :)
