EVO Herring and Salmon Formula Trial

Postby Angela Adams » Sat Nov 21, 2009 11:54 pm

I usually feed Orijen 6 fish, but the supplier has been out of stock for over a month and I have switched to feeding the regular Orijen.
I was thinking about trying the new EVO herring and salmon formula until we can get the 6 fish in stock.

Any one feeding the Evo? Thoughts on it?

I'm looking forward to trying the fish version of Evo. I think Evo is a great food for non-special needs adult dogs - not for puppies. It's a high quality food. It's more expensive than Taste of the Wild, which I think is good, too, and is an all life stages formula. My guess is the popularity of TotW's fish formula is what sparked Evo to come out with this.

I've had Mr. Owen on California Natural Lamb & Rice, he's REALLY itchy so I want to try grain free. Got a bag of this and started the change over this week. It CERTAINLY smells like fish! Anyone have any experience?

I was hoping EVO would make a fish-based grain free food, but I only wish it had less protein. *sigh*

Why don't you like the high protein if you don't mind the question?

My big guy is halfway through the switch, eating 50/50 (Cali Natural Lamb & Rice/ Evo Herring & Salmon), he certainly has no problem chowing done on the herring/salmon goodness! His stool has gotten significanty smaller, good thing right? He's still really itchy but we're only half way through, I have my fingers crossed.

I tried it! :)) Just one bags worth now to see how Deehogee does on it as she's another allergy case. They made the transition ok as far as stools go. I had HORRIBLE luck with the Orijen fish. Everyone but CoCo had some sort of bad reaction to it from skin issues to explosive diarrhea. :huh?:

Done with the switch! Still too early to see a major change other than his stool which has reduced in size and stiffened in consistency. I think thats a good thing no? I heard that it can take up from 30-90 days for a dogs allergies to old food disapear, anyone confirm that?
