Bleeding tail tip

It's scabbed over and Blu keeps opening it up again and making a bloody mess. What can I do?

You can go to the vet and have it wrapped, etc... but you can also first try this:

Get a box full of those LARGE bandaids, shave the tip of his tail, and wrap the bandaid around the tail. Every time it comes off, put a new bandaid around the tip. Tauri recently (for the first time in 9 years) opened the tip of her tail. I tried to wrap it with gauze/tape, etc. and that worked for a LITTLE while, but the process of doing it was hard. I tried the bandaid approach and it worked. They were easy to replace,and because they're large, they had enough padding to protect her injury as long as I made sure the padding was right over the wound.

I kept those on until it was very well healed.

I use surgical super glue for our happy waggers.. it helps to get the tail to get some scar tissue built up , it seems its the only way to keep our waggers from rebusting all the time.

I'm glad I found this! The dog I just rescued has a problem with happy tail. It's more of a problem now that he is comfortable in the home!!! People looked at me like I was nuts when I said he had happy tail

This is just what I came on here to look up today.

Stella finally opened her tail up. She had been building a tiny bald spot on the tip from the constant wagging, but today when I came home, and the crazy tail wagging ensued, it looked like a crime scene

Blood all over the walls, up the railing, carpet.... oy vey!!!

I put some surgical glue on it and a band aid. Seems to be holding up. Now I just have to keep it from re-opening I guess :/
