dog cakes

Postby bigbadbully » Mon Feb 01, 2010 6:36 pm

does anyone have good dog cake recipes? I want to throw a small party for Jazz's first birthday in a few days. I figured some of you spoil your dog, and you would know some especially delicious ones.

I don't remember where I got this recipe but it was a hit when I made it for my dogs! I used the sour cream for 'icing, not the potatoe topping.

BIRTHDAY CAKE FOR DOGS

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ingredients

1lb ground beef-extra lean
8 eggs
1 cup oat meal
1/2 cup cracker crumbs

Procedure

Using electric mixer, blend all items together until completely blended.
Pour into an oblong cake pan sprayed with non-stick spray. Bake in oven at
350 for 25- 35 minutes. Allow to cool. carefully invert on to plate and
frost with non-fat sour cream or imitation potato topping. Store leftovers
in refrigerator.

I made this last year for Mya's birthday and the dogs LOVED it!

Peanut Butter Carrot Cake

1 cup flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 cup shredded carrots
1 tsp. vanilla
1/3 cup honey
1 egg

Mix flour and baking soda. Add remaining ingredients. Pour into greased 8" round cake pan and bake at 350° for 30 minutes. Let cool.

Icing:

8 oz package cream cheese
1/2 cup of vegetable shortening

Blend ingredients with a hand mixer until well blended. Spread on to cake.

That is my favorite recipe for the dogs, but I sub the wheat flour with rice or rye flour.
