Not my dog but my kitty....

Postby brunomom » Tue Feb 23, 2010 4:55 pm

*sigh* I am so worried for my old man cat. He has been getting sick over the last couple days and vomiting. He also has a horrible wheezing type cough. I am taking him in on Thursday but I know I need to prepare myself for these things with him as he is getting old, is obese and obviously prone to more medical issues because of that. :(

Be thinking of us please. He is my buddy. My EXPENSIVE cat since he already cost me $1,000 in surgery 7 years ago. I'd do anything for him except make him suffer and I know he doesn't feel good right now.

You and your kitty will be in my thoughts.

Two of my cats died last August and now my remaining one has kidney disease. It's hard to know what, when to do.

Oh geez...now I am sitting here crying. I had to put my other cat down 3 years ago due to kidney failure and I had him since he was 5 weeks old. I struggled so much with that decision and cried for weeks. To this day, I see his photo and think of how much I miss him and what a fantastic cat he was. I am going to be a mess if Marshall is declining faster than I thought. I know they all go at some point but I get so emotionally tied to my animals and it ends up being something to the point of therapy I kid you not.

So I will sit, snuggle and wait til Thursday. And pray and hope that it's just something minor. Ok, pulling myself together. I have to feed my family now. And yes, I am probably pmsing....good gracious I am a mess.

I didn't mean to make you cry!! It was the first time I had one of "my" animals die and believe me I cried for days and even months afterward. Unfortunately it's part of the bargin we make when we get furry companions as they rarely outlive us.

Thursday is not so far away and then you'll know what you are dealing with and perhaps it won't be so bad.

You'll be in my thoughts

My old girl(15 years old) had a few medical issues going on in the last 6 months or so. I believe we have resolved them thankfully, so I know how you feel.

I have 2 of my 4 going to the vet on Thursday also.

Well we are back and Marshall had to get an antibiotic shot (long acting) because he has bronchitis which is causing him to cough (which I had noticed but thought it was related to the puking)...and cough so hard that he pukes.

I am so GRATEFUL that it was nothing serious.

I forgot to say I didn't even know cats could get bronchitis! Good to know though.

A dog who belongs to a potential adopter came down with bronchitis too...I didn't know they could get it either, is it secondary (in both cats and dogs) to another infection?
