Tripe that won't make me vomit

Postby Shanda » Sat Apr 10, 2010 5:36 pm

I just opened a can of tripe for the first time. I have a fairly strong constitution, but that did me in quite nicely. :yucky:

Does it come in any other fashion that touts the same benefits but also won't leave me gasping for fresh air at the back door? lol

The dog loved it.

Side note... you ARE the same lady who popped a puss cyst splashing your face and lived to tell it without running crying, yes?

Yes, but I didn't stop to smell the cyst. Being trapped in my kitchen, there was no avoiding eau de tripe. I have incense lit in every room right now and I still feel faint.

You might try frozen? Then you could throw it at the animals and run, hoping they consume it before it thaws...

umm if you dont' mind feedin gcanned.... there is a product called Tripette *I think that's how it's spelled*

I love the beef, only ingredients are *Green Beef Tripe, Garlic, and gum something or other that is the preservative*

I personally use Ground Beef Tripe, comes ina 5lb chub, when I can find it.... It definatly smells AWFUL, the canned stuff is WAY easier to live with smell wise. I cut the chub into appropriate sized chunks, freeze it in individual baggies... and at feeding time, pull out a baggie and move Paige and her Dinner to the back porch *she only eats outside on tripe nights lol*

She does actually eat it froze most of the time... thus... very little smell..

I'll take a look around for Tripette. I got the B.G. (Before Grain) brand today...I'm so glad I'm not a dog, I can't imagine liking that substance.

As for the chub....OMG you have to TOUCH it???? :crybaby:

The only stomach/intestine lining that I'll feed has to be part of the whole animal. My dogs only get rabbit and chick guts - encased in the full body. That way, I only have to deal with the soft, furry parts. lol

That tripe has been bleached and processed. This is basically cow guts ground up.

I wear cheap-o laytex gloves when I feed tripe. It's gross but the dogs LOVE it and it's really, really good for them.

we get ours here:

Solid Gold (?) makes a green tripe. It gives the dogs the most rank gas in the world. Seriously. Bad.
I used it to pill Napoleon a few times and we almost had to move out!

I haven't dared to find/try fresh (or frozen fresh) tripe BUT it i smy understanding htat the canned, which I do buy, is monumentally better and less stinky - so quit while you are ahead! :)
