Hives or Staph Infection

Postby starrlamia » Sun May 23, 2010 4:11 pm

Hey Guys

Gren has red bumps all over his chest and belly that just appeared today. I didnt have a chance to look to close as I spotted them on my way out the door for work. I could be mistaken but one almost looked pimply.
Is there an easy way to tell if it is hives or a staph infection?

I told my bf to go get him some benedryl, poor grenny, he doesnt even seem to notice them though lol.

I think we may have to book an allergy test appt for the poor lad.

aww, poor baby!
hives generally look like large welts under their skin
staph will look pimply or have a scabby, dry crusty skin appearance
I hate all these poor dogs getting alleriges on here

thanks!
It sounds like it may be staph then. I need to take a good look when I get home..

Its awful so many dogs have so many allergies :( The worst part is that Gren is the only one of his litter to have any issues like this, none others have had allergies or demodex :(

:)
Well it turns out it wasnt staph!! Yay! he got some benadryl and bag balm to help the discomfort, and we cleaned his chest and tummy and they went away about a day later.
