It's Lymphoma Large Cell Type.

Postby chewbecca » Tue Jun 01, 2010 12:35 pm

That was the bomb that hit us this morning in the vet's office.

I am so broken right now, and faced with decisions that I have to make, but do not even think I can muster up the brain power or focus, to make right now.

She's nauseous because of the lymphoma. And the prognosis is NOT good.
Because it's already spread to her organs. It's made it to her liver and spleen, at least, that he knows of.

Oh jesus christ. I can barely type this.

Since she did not respond to the prednisone (which the dosage was set to treat this), it's not good at all.

We will be going to an oncologist to get an evaluation. Our vet has seen and been successful treating several of his patients with lymphoma with prednisone. But Ella didn't respond to it, which, as I said, is not a good sign.

And that is the update. I'm trying to get myself together, so that I can look into a diet for her, because as it is right now, she cannot hold food down. She has to eat a homecooked, bland diet.
And that's NOT going to get better.
He gave us medicine to help with that.

I am so broken right now, and I'm trying NOT to be. You know, part of my brain is like, "He doesn't know what the hell he's talking about!"
I'm thinking all kinds of crazy crap like, "He's LYING to us!!!" or "Maybe they gave us the wrong dog's lab results."
Because surely this is not happening to Ella.
Just a month ago she was playing outside, running, walking, doing springpole, and walking on the treadmill.
How the HELL would it have spread sooo fast???

But now she cannot even hold food down. Now her tummy is bloated. Now she sleeps all the time.

I cannot type anymore about this right now.

I apologize in advance for any typos or anything that may sound like emotional nonsensical jibberish crap.

No right words, just

When you're ready to talk more-we're here.
When you're ready to scream-we're here.
When you're ready to cry-we're here, and will likely cry with you (I'm teary eyed now).

I'll be thinking of you guys today.

I only know Ella through stories and photos, and I'm teary eyed now. I can only imagine how you must be feeling since she's yours. Hugs and prayers for you and Ella.

I can only imagine your pain.. just thinking about her being that sick makes me cry as well. I wouldn't know what to do with myself if I was in your shoes. I will give you the advice I always get when it comes to my kids. Be strong for her & fight for her.. its what us mommies do best.

Oh god Rebecca, I'm so sorry. I'm glad to hear you're getting a second opinion from a specialist. That will at least make more clear to you exactly what all of your options are. My lab was diagnosed with lymphoma two years ago (it had spread to her spleen also, but she did seem to respond to prednisone). If you have any questions about anything, let me know. Your family and Ella are in my thoughts.

I'm so sorry to hear this...

I'm sorry I don't have anything to add to help you know what to do... you've already done, or are going to do, everything I would recommend.

Lots of hugs...

I'm so sorry, Rebecca. I know what you're going through. We went through lymphoma last year with our Tanner. Let me know if you need/want someone to talk to. What helped me the most was the Canine Lymphoma group on facebook. It helped to have other people to talk to who knew EXACTLY what I was going through.

Hugs and puppy kisses to you and precious Ella.

I haven't posted on this topic but have been following it closely because Ella is one of my favorites on this site and I enjoy the pictures and stories of her. Just want to say how sorry I am. No other words except you both are in my thoughts and prayers.
