Kelp, anyone?

Postby AllisonPitbullLvr » Wed Jun 16, 2010 9:50 pm

So with everything that has been going on with Buddy lately (and the other critters too for that matter!), I've decided to try a more natural supplement in regards to her skin (since we may end up having to consider doing a $2000 MRI to figure out her lameness!) and a friend recommended using Kelp which has antihistamine properties. So I ordered a tub of it which arrived today and put a scoop of the powdered stuff on to their kibble and they ate it up.

Anyone else use it?

The only down side is that it smells like a dirty old fishtank. Probably why the pups liked it. Dogs are so gross.

Here is the site from which I ordered it. They have some great stuff under the dog section:

I used to feed kelp every day, several years ago. I'm not sure why I quit, I can't remember lol

I remember the smell, too.

Yup we use kelp.

I mix it in with the food I make them in bulk so I'm not sure of the dosing but it really helps!

Thanks for the link. The store I used to buy our herbs from closed and shipping is really expensive elsewhere.

I don't know if it is helping their skin either but they are WAY less gassy and their poops are more firm!! (We've been having trouble with somewhat loose poops since a bout of giardia a few weeks ago!)

Love it!

I've used this kelp for about 6 or 7 years --

It is very high quality. His salmon oil is very good too.
