Can dogs get heat rash?

I had my dog at my boyfriends house the other night and he has no air conditioning in the downstairs of the house. Since the east coast is in a heat wave right now, it was like 98 degrees in the house. She had spent a few hours at doggy day care and possibly went outside also. The rash looked almost like chicken pox but the spots were not raised and they were more splotchy then spotty. It covered her underside.
We took her upstairs in the somewhat air conditioned room and the spots were not as bright in the morning, but they were still there. I took her home and had her in actual air conditioning and in about an hour the rash had completely cleared up. Any ideas?

Yep, it could be heat rash... dogs skin is easily irritated by heat and moisture... just like people.
