Not eating food. Tried a different one and still not

Postby Chasesmom » Tue Jul 13, 2010 12:48 pm

Both kibble. The last couple of weeks he has just not been eating like he used to. He used to get excited over his food and now..not so much.

Is it possible that he got spoiled so much with add-ins and people food that he is "too good" for his kibble?

What do you suggest we do? Leave it out all day or pick it up if he doesn't eat? We stopped feeding all human food so hopefully he just gets hungry enough to eat all of his food. He picks right now but I would like him to eat everything.

I think he knows you're stressed out and it's rubbing off on him. (you leave soon right?)

If it were me and I were really bothered by it, I'd either call or visit the vet. I don't think dogs will typically starve themselves, so I wouldn't worry to much yet. But if I started to get worried I'd feed him whatever he would eat. And I'd try to focus on rice and boiled chicken. Then I'd do less of that by adding in more and more kibble over time.

Except for his appetite how is he doing? Have you tried adding water to his food?

If his attitude and energy level are normal, give it a couple more days. If its not normal, vet asap.

How are you feeding him and how much are you feeding him?
A lot of people who don't have a set feeding schedule for dogs tend to have issues with their dog eating consistently.

We had to start feeding Eris twice a day. A cup at 1PM and a cup at 7PM.

Also, has your dog been vomiting, biting his nails, or have bad gas?
