eye dialation..?!?!

Postby reaper18769 » Mon Aug 16, 2010 3:55 pm

kinda freaked out for a minute..i let the dogs out for about 5-10 minutes to run around and use the bathroom..i let them back in they layed down and about 15 mins later i went to play with the pups and when i looked at guava i noticed her one eye was completly dialated and the other one was not..it was tiny and i mean its extremely weird looking and noticable so i immediatly called my vet who of course has no idea about eyes so i had to call the opto. specialist who was a little unsure of what it could be..after i hung up with her i went back to look at guava and her eyes were fine..i brought her outside into the sun and they both dialated brought her back inside and they went back to normal..it freaked me out i called the dr. back she told me to watch for changes..im just still unsure..any ideas or anything?! ugh im such a paranoid mom lol

That used to happen to koda up until he was about a year and a half old. The vet had determined that there had been head trauma before I found him, so he had issues with his eyes dilating randomly, usually it was just one eye at a time. The vet said it would subside after he matured and grew more, but it was still worrisome while it was happening. I'd still have it checked out. I was disappointed when they said just to wait it out, but it was better to know he was alright than to wonder all the time!
