Heat stroke...

Postby Misskiwi67 » Wed Sep 22, 2010 5:19 pm

Oh my god... my baby girl is gone.

I've been doing everything in my power to keep Sheila calm and quiet, including crating her in the car, and walking her separate from Romeo. I left her in the car while I got settled at work, its mid-70's and overcast... it was absolutely nuts at work today, and when I finally got out to the car to get her out, she was dead.

Its not that hot, but it was too hot for her... my baby girl is gone forever. It can happen to the best of us... be careful...

Im so sorry for your loss.

But did you really leave her unattended in your car? That's a harsh lesson I would have thought a vet would have known :(

Yep, I did. I do know better, and its absolutely killing me. We work 12-16 hour days on a regular basis and all 6 of us bring our dogs to work. Sheila is the only dog-aggressive dog, so I have to scope out the situation every morning. Several people leave their dogs in the car on a regular basis so they can spend their lunchbreak getting a walk, especially on days like today.

When I ran back into the hospital to let everyone know... nobody believed me... it just wasn't that hot or sunny today.

I'm very sorry to hear this. Do you think she may have had an underlying health issue, such as a heart defect? RIP Sheila.

She was a boxer mix... she could have had some heart problems.

She had surgery 9 days ago... she could easily have had a blood clot.

She was laying on her side, stretched out like always, her eyes were closed.
