Tess is sick

Postby Sarah » Thu Oct 14, 2010 12:20 pm

Sunday night, after our agility trial, Tully was puking a whole lot. I worried about her, but she stopped, and was fine by morning. Monday night, Tess puked a couple times. I didn't worry too much, but Tuesday morning, she was still acting not very Tess-like (she was acting like a normal dog). Tuesday she vomited again in her run, which I didn't realize until Wednesday (it was in her bed, and I didn't see it until I went in to set her up for the day).

She had a bit of loose stool, but I really thought she was getting better. Until I got home from work this morning, and she was worse than the night before, very lethargic (for Tess). I took her to the vet as an emergency to be worked in. We don't know what is wrong with her. Her temperature is normal, she is dehydrated, but she is drinking a ton of water, and urinating a lot of dilute urine. X-rays show nothing but a lot of food in the stomach and poo in the intestines.

She's staying at the vet, on IV fluids, and bloodwork is being sent to the lab. Please think good thoughts for my girl.

Oh Sarah, how scary. I hope it's just a stomach bug...something some doctor's fees and a couple I.V. bags will fix.

I'm sending all the good vibes I've got your way!

Did she get any unusual treats at the trial? Or did she snuffle around in any water puddles around the barn.. which brings up.. which trial site was it? Don't they have a minimal amount of bloodwork they can run in house?

Awe... poor babies!

Fluids are a magical cure... since both pups were ill hopefully its just a virus that hit her hard and she'll be right as rain tomorrow!
