Okay, the final word is lepto tests were negative, diagnosis is a kidney infection, most likely spread from a bladder infection. Her antibiotic is being switched to clavamox (was on amoxicillin), she'll be on antibiotics for 6-8 weeks. Her kidney values were down to high normal range today, we'll be rechecking those in 3 weeks. Recheck urine cultures twice after antibiotics are done; the vet said we could get away with just one recheck, but I want to be really 100% sure she is recovered. I still want to take her to world team tryouts, and possibly Nationals if I can afford it (maybe not, with the $2000 vet bill, but I'd still like to try), and I want to be sure she is fully healthy if we do that.

She is an amazing dog. Sick dog?

She is on a new antibiotic now, the lab grew another organism from her urine, and it was resistant to the clavamox she was on, so it was changed. I have a week's supply to be sure she tolerates it, then I get to buy the other 5 weeks supply. I'm going to have to have an antibiotic garage sale to clear some of these out.
