Poor Emma!

Postby EmmasMom » Wed Dec 08, 2010 2:42 pm

I went to bring Emma inside this afternoon when the kids were done with lunch (otherwise they'll feed her ALL their food, LoL) and she was sitting at the bottom of the stairs looking sad. I tried to get her to come in and she stood up and was favoring her right back leg. I had to carry her up the stairs and into the house and put her into her recliner. She won't put any weight on it. She TRIES, just once her toes touch, up it comes again. I don't see any deformities, feel anything weird, no swelling, she didn't wince or yip or anything when I was examining it. There aren't any foreign objects, cuts, abrasions, bites or anything on her foot or leg. I have NO idea what's wrong. She's just laying on the floor shivering! She's got a vet appointment for 515. I hope Pete gets home in time to help me cause I"m not sure I can get her into the truck alone, let alone wrangle the two kids and Emma into the truck and then into the vet's office. Good thoughts are really appreciated that this is nothing serious cause we're gonna be skipping a truck payment to pay for this vet visit.

Thank you. The vet said that Emma probably has a torn cruciate ligament in her knee. Not sure if it's full or partial. If it's partial it will heal on it's own. If not she'll need surgery. She is slowly going blind, she has arthritis as well. She got put on Rimadyl. Here's hoping it's only a partial tear!

Feel better soon Emma!!

My old girl has a torn ACL, and Adrienne's Shamoo also has torn her ligament. It sucks so much more when they are old. Lots of rest, keeping any extra weight off and daily Metacam is what keeps Buddy going.
