Lucy just tested positive for Parvo

Postby gixxerific » Wed Dec 08, 2010 4:13 pm

I don't really know what to think. She is at the vet right now, she is in good hands trust me there.

I just can't handle this right now. She is such a good girl, so pretty and full of life. We caught it early so i am hoping for the best but prepared for the worst. I am such a mess right now.

Please be okay Lucy we love you so so much.

Please pray for my baby girl.

I am so sorry

When caught early, I have seen so many pups bounce right back. I hope and pray that Lucy has a quick recovery and is back in your loving arms soon.

I am sending lots of prayers and good vibes your way.

Oh poor Lucy puppy! I am very sorry to hear this but since you caught it early she should recover.

Please call your vet right away and ask him to give her some Tamiflu!

This is human medicine for flu but it works very well for parvo in puppies and dogs and especially if you catch it early and give the Tamiflu right away.

This blog will also give you a lot of good info too but call right now about the Tamiflu, it is the best thing to help your pup and will also help prevent a huge vet bill!

Call and ask for the Tamiflu, it does work...

My Moira had parvo as a pup. I caught it quick and she is alive and well today, four and a half years later. I will keep Lucy in my prayers.

Thanks all Poor Lucy I just can't stand her being without her daddy right now. This is almost unbearable.

I will call about the tamiflu.

Which type of parvo is it? I believe there are two kinds, stomach and heart. I want to say that the stomach kind is the kind they are usually able to bounce back from (especially if caught early).

Remind me, where did you guys get her? Make sure they're aware, if there are other puppies there, they need to be tested/preventative measures need to be taken.

Yes, that Tamiflu will help her and the sooner she gets it the better....

She will be in my thoughts and I will hope for some good news. Were any of the other pups sick? Any idea where she got it?

There is a lot of info about cleaning and killing the parvo virus and you would need to be careful about that too. Clean up any areas with a bleach solution as bleach will kill parvo but it can live for about a yr in the ground. Nasty stuff.

I hope Lucy can come home soon!

Kirby survived parvo as a pup, its doable, especially when caught early. We will be thinking of you and yours and sending positive, healing thoughts.

I am so sorry. One of our dachshunds we used to own named River had Parvo when he was a little puppy and we caught it early too. He had to stay at the Vet for several weeks but he survived it and is a healthy, happy adult dog.

Good thoughts for Lucy that she gets better soon!

I called and the tech said that after she starts to shed the virus the Tamiflu doesn't work though it will work early if you KNOW that is wrong I will personally go up there and rearrange his face.

We've had two dogs survive parvo too, keep that baby hydrated! I'm thankful you caught it early.

Soooo... they won't give her the Tamiflu?

That's not good. The sooner she gets it, the better. If you have caught it early, this is the time to give it to her.

From what I know, they start to shed the virus pretty much as soon as they get it. I'd call back and say you do want them to give her Tamiflu. It has the best chance to help her fight the parvo.

Second this.
You need to tell the breeder ASAP, so they can help the rest of the litter and their own dogs.
It'd be terrible to lose the whole litter and have all their families suffer.
