Probiotics

Postby star_frances » Mon Dec 27, 2010 3:17 pm

What brand of probiotics do people like for their dogs? Are kinds packaged for humans cheaper and just as safe/effective? Can the same kind be given to cats, too? I saw this brand on Amazon, it has plant enzymes and probiotics, the price looks good and they say it's okay for cats and dogs, which is appealing to me.

I use and recommend Purina Fortiflora... also available on Amazon.com

Remember that most supplements are not FDA regulated, and there are no guarrantees about what is or is not contained within the package. Buyer beware...

I understand, and I agree. That's why I am asking for suggestions. ;)

We use Digest-All Plus for the pups.
http://www.amazon.com/Wholistic-Digest-All-Plus/dp/B001PYCNWI

It has digestive enzymes and probiotics.
When switching the pups from Fromm's Puppy Gold to Fromm's Adult Gold food, we were doing the 1/4 cup new to the 3/4 cup old. AND OHMYGOD. The pups had such HORRID gas that my ENTIRE house smelled like stale dog fart for an entire day. And it was one of the coldest days so far this year, and I couldn't open windows to air out the house.
It was GROSS. Ben got a headache from it.

The next day, he went and got this stuff and it worked INSTANTLY. No more stinky farts.

I absolutely love Fortiflora. I haven't used it in a long time, but it's amazing stuff.
