Lucy broke a tooth

Postby gixxerific » Wed Dec 29, 2010 9:16 pm

She broke a lower canine. Is this normal, a bad thing or what. It deosn't seem to bother her. I'm not sure if they are baby teeth still.

If lucy is less than 6 months, they are just baby teeth. However, lucy is still young enough that the tooth will be exposed long enough that if infection sets in, it could potentially damage the adult tooth growing directly underneath it. You should have a conversation with your vet about risks of anesthesia/infection vs. benefits of having the broken tooth pulled.

This happened to Luke once when we were playing tug.
I kept an eye on it, but the tooth fell out soon after he broke it.

I'd take Misskiwi's advice. :))
