watering at the mouth

Postby SonnysMomma » Sat Jan 15, 2011 9:18 pm

So Sonny waters at the mouth.....usually when he is getting ready to throw up, or when he has has a sneezing attack and sometimes when I cook something with particular spices.

Well tonight he started watering at the mouth for no known reason. And its alot of watering. Most times I give him some beyndryl....but I'm not sure that works. Most times it seems to be sleep that makes it stop.

Anyways...does anyone have any ideas or advice? Has anyone run in to this sort of issue? Is there some aort of tests we should have run on him to see if something is wrong?

Its starting to worry me.

i think it's usually related to nausea.

I would guess he just doesn't feel very well, I believe you can give some over the counter stomach meds to dogs. Maybe a little canned pumpkin or rice?

I also believe it is related to nausea.

Although I can't answer whether or not he has been more nauseous lately...since he is there ;)

If it continues I'd probably go to the vet.

How are his teeth?

When Gator had a broken tooth he would drool.

Thanks guys for all the feedback. He finally stopped at some point last night and hasn't watered today.

LJ his teeth seem to be fine.

His yearly is coming up soon so I think I might move it up and go ahead and talk to them about the watering at the mouth. He doesn't do well at the vet so getting it in all at once is better.

Paivey did you ever find out what was wrong with Sonny? Zila has been doing this same thing for almost 2 days. Normally she is super dry mouthed but she is dripping like a faucet right now. I am kinda worried.

No, he stopped later that night. That's usually how it goes with him. He starts in the afternoon or at night and then it doesnt usually stop until he goes to sleep for the night.

We are going to push up his annual visit and talk to him about that.

I checked Zila last night when I got home and she has a broken molar with the pulp exposed. She went in this morning and will have the tooth extracted on Thursday, so, mystery solved!
